From Bruce Grobbelaar in 1981 to Fernando Torres in 2007, he witnessed every new Kop signing put pen to paper, registering his name on some of the most important documents in the club’s history.
His autobiography provides a rare insight behind the scenes at Anfield during a period when the emergence of agents and foreign stars saw football turned into a multi-million pound business.

This book is about Arthur Lowe's 29 years as Chief Accountant of LIverpoolFC as told by Arthur to a writer, Mike Hopper, who's experience based on the bio provided in the book is pretty limited.There are some good pieces of information for any ardent Liverpool supporter and in particular, Arthur's reflections of Hillsborough (he was on the terraces that day) and his tribute to Peter Robinson are compelling.
However, the book is pretty dry and lacks a good sense of story. Essentially, neither Arthur nor Mike appear to be great story tellers, so it ends up as a fairly basic bio of a man who experienced close to first-hand one of the greatest periods LFC has enjoyed as a club in its history.
The tidbits of information on certain personalities, particularly the managers was interesting but lacked any depth. In fact, depth is what the book lacked. It was more a telling of events and situations.
There are plenty of other books on LFC which I expect are more interesting and compelling.

One of the best football books ever. So different than the normal where various games are depicted. This book is about the guy next door who realises his dream and gives a very interesting account of what it is like to work at the most successful club in Britain.
This is a great read for any liverpool supporters who want to know more about the club by a long serving employee. A++++++
